Ayu – a friendly face at the foot of Rinjani
In the village of Senaru, at the foot of Indonesia’s second highest mountain, Rinjani you’ll find a very friendly face. It belongs to a woman called Ayu. She runs The Horizon restaurant not far from where climbers begin their ascent of the majestic mountain. The Horizon has a spectacular view of the mountain from it’s dining area and grounds.
Take in the sweeping valley views from the ocean to the peak of the mountain as you dine on Ayu’s delicious food.
Ayu can arrange mountain climbs and provide advice for you on visiting Senaru. If mountain climbing isn’t your thing, there are many other options in Senaru. A marvelous day can be spent ’soft-trekking’, which is what the locals call wandering around the rivers, jungle and rice terraces around the village.
A trip to the famous Sindang Gila and Tiu Kelep waterfalls is also a must while visiting Senaru – this soft-trekking can be done in a morning or afternoon.
